Professor Zhihong Xu is a leading academic at Griffith University, affiliated with the School of Environment and Science, and holds roles in the Centre for Planetary Health and Food Security and Xu's Soil-Plant-Climate Systems Group. He has authored over 430 journal/conference papers and 2 books, with an h-index of 63 and 13,245 citations. His research focuses on biogeochemical processes, soil-plant-climate interactions, and climate change impacts, emphasizing sustainable ecosystems and food security.
Education: BSc (Chemistry) from Jiangxi Normal University (1978–1982), MSc (Soil Science) from Chinese Academy of Sciences (1982–1984), and PhD (Environmental Science) from Griffith University (1986–1990). He has held roles as Director of the Environmental Futures Research Institute (2009–2020) and currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Soils and Sediments.
Research interests include soil carbon sequestration, ecosystem resilience, and innovative technologies like biochar for sustainable agriculture.
