Zhigang Tian

Zhigang Tian is a Professor and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He serves as Founding Director of the Institute of Immunology, Founding President of the University Medical Centre, Founding Dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences, and Founding Director of the Institutes of One Health at Hefei National Comprehensive Science Center.

• Education: Ph.D. in Immunology (1989), M.S. in Immunology (1985), M.D. (1982).
• Academic leadership roles since 2001 at USTC and co-founder of Shandong Cancer Biotherapy Center (1989-2001).
• International visiting positions at Kanazawa University, Medical College of Virginia, and NIH/NCI.

Research interests focus on tumor immunotherapy, liver immunology, and Natural Killer (NK) cell biology. His work has resulted in over 400 peer-reviewed publications, including contributions to top journals like Science, Nature Immunology, and Hepatology, with an H-index of 68.

Scientific awards include the 2021 Vcanbio Award, 2017 CAE Academician honor, and multiple National Science and Technology Awards (2008, 2011, 2019). He also held leadership roles in professional societies, such as President of the Chinese Society of Immunology (2014-2019).
