معرفی
Dr. Zhichao Zhang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering at Northumbria University, where he joined in 2020. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle University (2015–2019) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands (2019–2020). His research focuses on combustion science, renewable fuels, and sustainable energy systems, with particular emphasis on hydrogen diffusion in turbine blades, liquid fuel spray dynamics, and pollutant emission reduction.
Key research interests include liquid fuel spray characterization, combustion optimization in gas turbines and diesel engines, hydrogen diffusion mechanisms, and the development of renewable fuels. He has conducted EPSRC-funded projects on fuel pre-treatment for combustion improvement and NSFC-funded studies on bio-jet fuel blends. Additional projects include BNSF-funded work on particulate emission indices in GDI engines.
Dr. Zhang’s work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy, climate action, and industrial innovation. His experimental and numerical studies often employ CFD simulations and advanced diagnostic techniques to analyze fuel spray behavior, combustion dynamics, and material degradation under extreme conditions.
