Zhi Li

Zhi Li, PhD, P.Eng., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on sustainable electrode materials and electrocatalysts for energy storage and conversion technologies.

• Research Interests: Energy storage systems, electrocatalysts for nitrogen reduction, advanced carbon materials from biomass, stress analysis in batteries, and electrochemical mechanisms.
• Teaching: Courses include MAT E 202 Materials Science II and MAT E 341 Applied Electrochemistry and Corrosion.

Publications highlight innovations in zinc-ion, lithium-sulfur, sodium-ion batteries, and fuel cells, with emphasis on nanocarbon architectures, single-atom catalysts, and in-situ characterization techniques.
