معرفی
Dr. Zheng Wu (preferred name: Herbert Wu) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research laboratory investigates the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive flexibility and social behaviors.
Education:
- PhD in Neurobiology from Harvard University
- Postdoctoral work at Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, Columbia University
Research Interests:
Dr. Wu's research spans three interconnected areas. His work on flexible decision making uses innovative odor-guided delayed match to sample tasks in mice, revealing surprising roles of premotor areas in processing perceptual information. His social cognition research develops new paradigms to study complex cognitive social interactions like trust and empathy that are impacted by autism. His social behavior investigations examine how genetically defined neural circuits for innate behaviors like parenting are modulated by an animal's internal state and social context.
Scientific Recognition:
- Sloan Research Fellowship in Neuroscience (2023)
- NIMH Biobehavioral Research Award for Innovative New Scientists (BRAINS) (2023)
- ISFS Fellow, Intersections Science Fellows Symposium (2021)
- Junior Fellow, Simons Society of Fellows (2016)
Professional Activities:
Dr. Wu maintains an active research laboratory at Mount Sinai where he bridges computational approaches with experimental neuroscience. His laboratory is located in the Hess CSM Building, Floor 10, Room 107 at 1470 Madison Avenue, New York.
