Dr. Frederic Stoll is an Assistant Professor in the Nash Family Department of Neuroscience at the Friedman Brain Institute, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research focuses on the neural bases of decision-making, particularly the communication dynamics within the prefrontal cortex and its interactions with distant brain regions.
- Education: PhD in Neuroscience from University of Lyon, France
Research Interests: Dr. Stoll investigates how neural circuits in the frontal lobe, including the orbitofrontal and ventrolateral prefrontal cortex, encode decision variables and implement flexible decision-making. His work spans comparative neuroanatomy (macaques, mice, humans) and functional connectivity in fronto-limbic circuits.
Publication Trends: Recent work (2024-2025) examines cross-species neural dynamics, decision-making hierarchies, and dissociable encoding mechanisms in prefrontal-limbic circuits. Studies employ techniques like chemogenetic manipulation and connectomic analysis.
Labs & Collaborations: Collaborates with Dr. Paul Rudebeck (Mount Sinai) and Dr. Patrick Hof (Mount Sinai). Research involves macaque and rodent models, with affiliations to the Friedman Brain Institute's neuroimaging and cognitive neuroscience teams.
