Dr. Zhe Wang is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Art Direction at Manchester Fashion Institute, Manchester Metropolitan University, where he teaches across Fashion Communication and Fashion Business departments. He joined MFI in 2020 and supervises postgraduate research students. Holding a Ph.D. in Design (Design Culture Research) from the University of Edinburgh, his thesis explored Chinese designers' role in the global fashion ecosystem. His research focuses on global fashion culture, brand management, digital fashion, and creative labor. He has secured grants such as the UCRKE Research Grant on China’s contemporary fashion and led projects like 'From Appropriation to Authenticity: Struggles and Strategies in International Luxury Branding in China' (2023–2025).

Research interests include interdisciplinary fields such as fashion communication, design anthropology, and the global fashion cities phenomenon. He curated the 2017–2018 International Touring Exhibition 'Beauty by Design: Fashioning the Renaissance' and serves on the editorial board of Fashion, Style and Popular Culture.
