Zeynep Demir is a researcher and lecturer at Bielefeld University's Faculty of Educational Science, affiliated with Prof. Andreas Zick's Socialization research group and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Conflict and Violence Research (IKG). She serves in the Research Networking Office of DeZIM Community, focusing on migration, discrimination, and diversity studies.
Research Interests: Her work explores
- Migration and acculturation dynamics
- Systemic racism and discrimination
- Diversity policy in educational systems
- Refugee mental health
- Intersectional approaches to social inequality
Project Leadership: Key projects include
- ZuGleich (Stiftung Mercator-funded)
- MuPe (Federal Ministry of Interior-funded research on anti-Muslim racism)
Teaching & Recognition: As a Visiting Lecturer through ERASMUS+ at King’s College London and University of Agder, she brings international perspectives to education. The (Re)Searching Diversity Podcast she co-hosts won the CIDER Public Science Award (1st prize).
