Zehra Palejwala is a Doctor and Clinical Research Associate at the University of Western Australia, affiliated with the School of Human Sciences and the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. She completed her PhD in Burn Surgery in 2024 and holds a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Sport Science, Exercise and Health. Her academic journey also includes a Graduate Diploma in Science and a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Human Biology.

Zehra's research focuses on burn surgery, thermal stress, and physiological adaptation in surgical environments. She investigates how operating theatre temperatures, heat strain, and mental stress affect surgical teams. Her work intersects clinical practice, environmental physiology, and team dynamics, aiming to improve patient outcomes and surgical efficiency.
Her recent publications analyze thermal challenges in surgical settings, including the impact of intraoperative stressors, seasonal acclimatization, and environmental temperature regulation. Key themes include physiological heat strain, subjective workload, and thermal burn care. Collaborations span Fiona Stanley Hospital and multidisciplinary teams.
Zehra has received First Class Honours for her academic excellence. Her work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals Good Health and Well-being and Partnerships for Goals.
She is part of the surgical burns team at Fiona Stanley Hospital and works with the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
