Zaida C. Rivera is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Washington School of Law and serves as the Director of the Immigrant Justice Clinic (IJC) at the Ronald A. Peterson Law Clinic. Her expertise lies in immigration law, with over a decade of experience representing clients in immigration proceedings and humanitarian relief cases. She supervises law students in providing direct legal services to migrants, including asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border.
- Education: BA in International Relations and Spanish from Gonzaga University (2005), JD from the University of Idaho College of Law (2012).
Professor Rivera’s research and practice focus on access to justice initiatives, legal fraud prevention for humanitarian immigrants, and pipeline programs for underrepresented law students. She is actively involved in community legal clinics and advocacy for immigrant rights.
In 2023, she co-authored an article on Washington’s immigration fraud prevention rules, reflecting her commitment to practical legal scholarship. She is a fellow of the Washington Leadership Institute Class of 2023 and contributes to policy discussions through her membership in the ATJ Delivery Systems’ Undocumented Communities Subcommittee.
