Alexander Holtzman is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law and Director of the Long Island Immigration Advocacy Fellowship Program at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law, Hofstra University. He also serves as the Director of the Deportation Defense Clinic, where he supervises law students in representing immigrant youth in deportation proceedings.

His research and professional interests focus on immigration law, asylum advocacy, and the legal rights of unaccompanied and separated immigrant children. His clinical work emphasizes hands-on legal training in deportation defense and humanitarian immigration relief, including Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) and asylum claims.
Alex began his immigration advocacy career as a Justice Fellow with Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) and served as a staff attorney at the Safe Passage Project for three years. He continues to contribute to the field through his role on IJC's Advisory Committee, bridging legal education and public service.
He teaches graduate-level courses including:

Alex’s commitment to immigration justice is deeply personal, influenced by his mother’s emigration from Serbia and his own experience living in Ecuador. His work integrates policy, advocacy, and clinical legal training to support vulnerable immigrant populations.
