Andrea Ramos is a Professor at Southwestern Law School and Director of the Immigration Law Clinic, established in 2008. She holds a B.A. (Sociology, magna cum laude, 1988) from Arizona State University and a J.D. (1992) from the University of Southern California. Her work focuses on providing legal services to vulnerable immigrant children and survivors of crime, emphasizing immigration relief through Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, VAWA, and U-Visa cases. She has directed the Children’s Rights Project at Public Counsel, training over 700 volunteers annually.
Her research and advocacy intersect immigration law, juvenile justice, and public interest law. She has been recognized for her community impact, including the 2007 Inspirational Alumnus Award and 2008 Attorney of the Year. Courses she teaches include Immigration Law Clinic and International Refugee and Asylum Law.
Her clinic provides hands-on training for students while serving indigent clients. Notable collaborations include a recent partnership with the Los Angeles LGBT Center to assist LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers. She previously served on USC’s adjunct faculty, co-teaching Children and the Law.
