Dr. Moballegh specializes in feminist reinterpretations of Islamic theology through narratology, analyzing women's stories in the Qur'an to expose systematic silences and reconstruct gendered authority. Her foundational work includes the first Persian feminist theology book "Faith as Reason" and "Logical Structure of Illuminationist Philosophies", which applies feminist critique to Islamic philosophical traditions. She has contributed extensively to Zanan e Emrooz magazine and the Encyclopedia Islamica Foundation, notably authoring the "Woman in the Qur’an" entry.
Her Harvard research projects—including "Narrating for Love and Change" (2023-25) and "From Being to Becoming Woman" (2018-19)—explore 25 Qur'anic women's narratives through linguistic-narratological analysis. She teaches courses on gendered Qur'anic language, Islamic philosophy, and narrative-based feminist theology, bridging classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary gender theory.
