Zafer Kanik is a Lecturer in Economics at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow since September 2020. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT. He holds a PhD in Economics from Boston College.
His research focuses on economic and financial networks, with two primary themes: (1) macroeconomic impacts of automation and (2) systemic risk, financial stability, and banking regulations. Key interests include risks in networked markets, regulatory frameworks, and the interplay between technological change and labor markets.
Zafer contributes to the Macroeconomics research cluster at his school. His expertise spans automation's societal impacts, productivity dynamics, financial contagion mechanisms, and the design of effective banking regulations.
