Zachary Kayler is an Associate Professor in the Department of Soil and Water Systems at the University of Idaho's College of Agricultural & Life Sciences. His research focuses on ecosystem biogeochemical cycles, particularly in natural and managed systems, emphasizing sustainability, resilience, and adaptation. He holds a Ph.D. from Oregon State University and M.S./B.S. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Oregon State University
- M.S., University of California, Berkeley
- B.S., University of California, Berkeley
- Key Research Themes:
- Ecosystem carbon/nitrogen/phosphorus dynamics
- Climate change impacts on agroecosystems
- Soil health under drought and extreme conditions
Dr. Kayler's work bridges terrestrial and aquatic biogeochemistry, with recent publications addressing phosphorus cycling in lake sediments, biochar applications, and crop intercropping systems. He has been recognized as a Research Fellow at the Leibniz Center and a Visiting Researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
