ZHANG Wei

ZHANG Wei is a Senior Lecturer of Strategic Management at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University (SMU), where he has served since 2015. He holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering and an MBA from Georgia Institute of Technology, alongside an M.S. in Biological Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech and a B.S. in Biochemical Engineering from Nanjing University of Chemical Technology. Prior to his current position, he was an Adjunct Lecturer at SMU (2012–2015) and a Senior Lecturer at Amity Global Business School (2012). He has also held roles as a Business Analyst at Medipurpose and a pro-bono consultant at The Sullivan Center.

His research focuses on competitive strategy, innovation entrepreneurship, and strategic alliances, with interests in inter/intra-organizational relationships. Notable achievements include the 2014 Dean’s Teaching Honors List and the 2011 Best Paper Award at the Academy of Management Meeting. His work bridges strategic management with legal and economic analyses, particularly in Asian markets.

ZHANG’s academic contributions span corporate governance, shareholder activism, and dual-class share structures, with a focus on Singapore, Hong Kong, and China. His recent articles examine topics like pharmaceutical safety, legal harmonization across jurisdictions, and regulatory frameworks for emerging industries. His teaching roles include coordinating the VUCA course and managing educational programs.
