Yvonne Pratt-Johnson is a Professor of Education (TESOL) at St. John's University's School of Education, specializing in the Department of Education Specialties. She holds advanced degrees from Stony Brook University, Georgetown University, and Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research focuses on second language acquisition, bilingualism, and culturally responsive pedagogy, particularly concerning dialect-different learners and English-based creoles. She has led Fulbright-Hays-funded projects to Vietnam and India, emphasizing teacher cultural immersion. A former Interim Dean and Department Chair, she has also contributed to U.S., New York State, and NYC educational policy.
