Drew S. Fagan

Dr. Drew S. Fagan is a Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland's College of Education, specializing in Applied Linguistics and Language Education. He holds an Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University (2013). His research focuses on multilingualism in leadership development, discourse analysis of educator interactions, and policy advocacy for multilingual learners. He currently directs the Ed.D. in School System Leadership (TESOL/Dual Language) and coordinates TESOL programs. Awards include the 2025 Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Public Service and 2023 TESOL Teacher of the Year. His work bridges academia with state and federal policymaking, including roles on the Maryland State Department of Education’s Accountability Task Force and the U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program’s National Screening Committee. He co-leads the Maryland Initiative for Literacy and Equity (MILE) grant and co-authored key guides for educators and families of multilingual learners. His recent articles emphasize professional development, equity, and policy advocacy in multilingual education.
