Dr. Yvette Roe is the Director of the Molly Wardaguga Research Centre and Co-Director of the Molly Wardaguga Institute for First Nations Birth Rights at Charles Darwin University's Faculty of Health. With over 30 years of experience in Indigenous health, her research focuses on improving health outcomes for First Nations peoples through culturally safe, community-driven approaches. She holds a PhD (2015) and has led numerous national and international grants, including NHMRC and Lowitja Institute-funded projects.
Her research interests include maternal and infant health, rural/remote health, and public health. She has contributed to transformative studies such as 'Birthing on Country' and 'RISE SAFELY', aiming to redesign healthcare services to empower First Nations communities. She serves on key advisory bodies like the NHMRC Research Committee and has received the 'Best overall paper' award in 2021.
Dr. Roe supervises postgraduate research and has pioneered programs addressing health disparities through participatory action research. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing equity and cultural preservation in health systems.
