Yvette Q. Getch, Ph.D., CRC, is a Professor in the Department of Counseling and Instructional Sciences at the University of South Alabama and Coordinator of Graduate Counseling Programs (Clinical Mental Health & School). She holds a B.S. in Social Work from Florida State University (1986), an M.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Arkansas (1990), and a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Education and Research from the University of Arkansas (1996). Her teaching philosophy emphasizes equity, access, and non-discrimination, with a focus on creating safe learning environments and balancing challenge with support.
Her research focuses on advocacy for marginalized populations, particularly children with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and mental health challenges.
