Yvette Alex-Assensoh serves as Vice President for Equity and Inclusion at the University of Oregon and holds the role of Pro Tem Instructor in the School of Law. She leads institutional efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion through policy development, strategic planning, and community engagement. Her portfolio includes oversight of the Office of Equity and Inclusion, the Center on Diversity and Community (CoDaC), and the Center on Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE).
Previously, she was a tenured Professor of Political Science and Dean at Indiana University, where she secured national research funding and earned accolades for academic contributions. Her Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Zagreb in Croatia underscores her international scholarly impact. With expertise spanning law, mediation, and diversity consulting, her work addresses systemic inequities in academia and society.
Yvette has authored/co-authored five books and numerous scholarly and journalistic works, focusing on political systems, gender dynamics, and educational equity. Her leadership extends to national committees on ethics, teaching excellence, and diversity initiatives. She is a member of the Indiana State Bar and actively contributes to public discourse on inclusion.
