Yves Bourgeois is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Business, University of New Brunswick (Saint John campus). He currently serves as Dean of Université de Moncton’s Shippagan campus, having previously served as Director of UNB's Urban and Community Studies Institute and Assistant Professor of Economics at UNB Saint John (2012–2016).
Education:

- MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford (Rhodes Scholar)
- MSc in Science and Technology Studies (Innovation Economics) from the University of Edinburgh
- BA in Politics and Economics from Université de Moncton
His research centers on agglomeration economies and innovation dynamics, with current projects examining smart/sustainable cities, digital/green economic transitions, digital startup ecosystems, and labor market integration of digital skills. Additional work explores renewable energy development, big data applications in idea geography, and transportation infrastructure impacts.
Publications consistently analyze Moncton's urban economic performance, knowledge flow mechanisms, regional governance challenges, and talent mobility in small cities, spanning urban economics, political science, and innovation studies with strong Canadian regional focus.

Dr. Bourgeois directs major research initiatives funded by SSHRC, including a 5-year partnership grant (2014–2019) on Canada's ICT industry competitiveness and a 3-year development grant (2014–2017) benchmarking digital skills' economic impacts, supporting numerous undergraduate and graduate research assistants.
His leadership of UNB's Urban and Community Studies Institute (2012–2016) established collaborative frameworks with governmental and international bodies for economic development strategy design, particularly regarding technological transitions and sustainable value creation.
