Yuta Morinaga is Professor at the Faculty of Economics, Department of Management, Sophia University (Tokyo) and teaches leadership-development courses in the university’s Global Education Center. Holding a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Kobe University, he has held faculty positions at Rikkyo, Musashi and Sophia universities. His research integrates organizational behavior with occupational health, focusing on job crafting, inclusive leadership and well-being management in Japanese organizations.

Research Interests:
Morinaga investigates how employees proactively redesign their work (job crafting) and how leaders can foster inclusive climates that enhance creativity, knowledge sharing and psychological safety. He also examines the interface between human-resource management and occupational health, quantifying how team-level health initiatives and supportive cultures improve employee well-being and work-family balance, especially under remote-work conditions imposed by COVID-19.

Grants & Policy Engagement:
He currently leads a JSPS Grant-in-Aid project (2023-2025) on activity-based working office layouts and social well-being, and has completed a 6-year JSPS project on health-oriented HRM. Since 2023 he serves as advisor to Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on work-engagement promotion and to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on health-care industry policy.

Morinaga is editorial board member of the Japanese Journal of Administrative Science, Journal of Organizational Science and Japan Labor Review, and committee member of the Academic Society for Organization Science and the Japan Association for Labor Studies.
