Yusef Komunyakaa is a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and senior faculty member in the Creative Writing Program at New York University. His distinguished career includes authorship of acclaimed poetry collections such as Neon Vernacular (Pulitzer Prize and Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award winner), Dien Cai Dau (Dark Room Poetry Prize), and The Emperor of Water Clocks. He has also published prose works like Blue Notes: Essays, Interviews & Commentaries and co-edited The Jazz Poetry Anthology.
Komunyakaa's research explores poetry composition, war literature, jazz poetry, and literary translation, with particular focus on Vietnam War experiences. His creative practice examines cultural memory through lyrical narratives and experimental forms.
