Yunyun Gu

Yunyun Gu (BSc, M.Eng.) is a Researcher in the Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology within the Faculty of Chemistry. Their work focuses on developing advanced analytical methods for food safety and exposome research, with particular expertise in mass spectrometry techniques and biomonitoring of food contaminants.

Research interests include:

• Exposomics and environmental exposure assessment
• Development of high-throughput solid-phase extraction methods
• Mycotoxin exposure monitoring, particularly during pregnancy
• LC-MS/MS biomonitoring incorporating veterinary drugs and pesticides
• Food chemistry analysis for safety and toxicology assessment

Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate expertise in analytical chemistry techniques applied to food safety, with a focus on mass spectrometry-based methods. Their research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health, food safety, and environmental protection. Gu has presented findings at multiple scientific conferences including poster presentations and oral contributions in 2024.

Key research collaborations include work with Benedikt Warth, Caroline H. Johnson, and participation in the Yale Pregnancy Outcome Prediction Study. Their fingerprint analysis shows strong activity in Tandem Mass Spectrometry (Food Science), Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry, Exposome research, Solid-Phase Extraction, and Veterinary Drug analysis.
