Yun Fan

Dr. Yun Fan is an Associate Professor in Cell and Developmental Genetics at the University of Birmingham's School of Biosciences. His research focuses on understanding how cell death, proliferation, and differentiation are coordinated to maintain tissue homeostasis, with implications for cancer and tissue regeneration. He holds a PhD from the University of Basel and has postdoctoral experience at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

• Regulation of apoptosis and necrosis in tissue homeostasis

• Role of cellular communication in stress responses
• Genetic models in Drosophila for studying cell death pathways

Labs & Collaborations: Leads the Fan Lab, affiliated with the Birmingham Fly Facility. Collaborates with institutions worldwide to study AiP and necrosis in cancer and regenerative contexts.
