Kenneth Cadigan is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) at the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). He holds a Ph.D. from Dartmouth University (1989) and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and Stanford University. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway in developmental processes, cancer, and tissue homeostasis, using model organisms such as Drosophila, C. elegans, Xenopus, and human cells. His lab has identified key components like Pygopus, a nuclear protein critical for Wnt signaling, and investigates apoptosis regulation.
- Education: Ph.D., Dartmouth University (1989)
- Postdoctoral Training: University of Basel, Stanford University
Research interests include understanding how TCF transcription factors bind DNA via HMG and C-clamp domains, and identifying Wnt target genes across species. The lab combines genetics, biochemistry, and cell culture to study signal transduction and transcriptional regulation.
