معرفی
Yulia Egorova is a biological oceanographer at the University of British Columbia’s Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, part of the Faculty of Science. Her research focuses on developing midwater ecosystem models to address ecological and biogeochemical questions related to mesopelagic zones. She holds an MSc (2016) in Biological Oceanography and dual BSc degrees in Environmental Chemistry (2012) and Chemical Engineering (2010) from Thompson Rivers University and Mendeleyev University respectively.
Research Interests: Her work integrates climate change impacts on marine ecosystems, mesopelagic food web dynamics, and fisheries productivity. She also explores computational chemistry applications in nuclear reactor environments and acid-base equilibria. Recent projects include modeling mesopelagic biodiversity and investigating salmon migration patterns using otolith chemistry.
Teaching: She has coordinated courses like MEDI504A/B (Experimental Medicine) and taught over 20 courses across undergraduate and graduate levels, including EOSC112 (Fluid Earth), STAT545 (Data Analysis), and DSCI521 (Data Science Platforms).
Advising & Grants: While no formal advisees are listed, her interdisciplinary projects bridge oceanography, chemistry, and data science. She has contributed to studies funded by UBC and international collaborations.
Key Projects: Current research includes midwater ecosystem modeling and computational chemistry investigations into CANDU reactor systems. Past work includes method development for 4-methylimidazole analysis in food products using HPLC.
