Yuka Oyama

Prof. Dr. Yuka Oyama (born 1974, Tokyo) is a jewellery artist and professor at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle since October 1, 2024. She explores how personal objects construct identity through wearable sculptures, blending field research, object-based interviews, and performance.

• Studied at Rhode Island School of Design and Akademie der Bildenden Künste München
• Doctorate in artistic research (2017) at Oslo National Academy of the Arts

Her work manifests in international exhibitions (Marta Herford, Musée d'Art Moderne Paris) and pedagogical frameworks emphasizing the socio-cultural role of jewellery. She led the Jewellery Art Programme at HDK-Valand (2019-2024) and co-organizes SCHMUCK HALLE Roundtable discussions with Dorothea Heisig and Jakob Klug.
