Yuhei Suzuki is an Associate Professor at Hokkaido University's Faculty of Science, Department of Mathematics. His research focuses on operator algebras, particularly C*-algebras, discrete/locally compact groups, topological dynamical systems, and amenable C*-dynamical systems. He received his PhD in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Tokyo (2016) under Professor Yasuyuki Kawahigashi, after studies at the University of Tokyo (Master's, 2013) and Hokkaido University (Bachelor's, 2011). His academic journey includes JSPS Research Fellowships (DC1 and PD), positions at Nagoya University (Assistant Professor, 2017-2020), and current roles at Hokkaido University since 2020.
Education and Academic Positions:
- BSc, Hokkaido University (2011)
- MSc, University of Tokyo (2013)
- PhD, University of Tokyo (2016)
- JSPS PD Fellow (Chiba University, 2016-2017)
- Nagoya University, Assistant Professor (2017-2020)
- Hokkaido University, Associate Professor (2020-present)
Research Interests: Suzuki's work bridges operator algebras with geometric group theory and dynamical systems. Key contributions include studies on almost finiteness in groupoids, non-amenable tight squeezes via Kirchberg algebras, equivariant O_2-absorption, and characterizations of amenable C*-dynamical systems. His research explores connections between nuclearity in C*-algebras and dynamical properties, with applications to rigidity phenomena and geometric group theory.
Awards and Recognitions:
- Clark Prize, Hokkaido University (2011)
- Dean Prize, University of Tokyo (2016)
- MSJ Takebe Katahiro Prize (2019)
- Frontiers of Science Awards (2023)
- MEXT Young Scientists’ Prize (2025)
Advising and Seminars: Suzuki has supervised multiple graduate students (M1-M2 levels) and participated in international workshops, including at BIRS, Fields Institute, and RIMS. He organizes academic events like Hokkaido University's Power Up Seminars and serves on committees for the Mathematical Society of Japan and university student affairs.
