Yuchen Xu serves as Professor and Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt University School of Engineering, with additional affiliation at the Vanderbilt Institute for Surgery and Engineering (VISE). His leadership spans departmental administration and cutting-edge neuroimaging research.
His educational foundation includes a B.A. in Neuroscience and Computer Science from Vanderbilt University, establishing his dual-domain expertise.
Research centers on whole-brain image segmentation and cortical surface analysis through the Medical-image Analysis and Statistical Interpretation Lab (MASI). This work integrates biomedical engineering, computer vision, and statistical modeling to decode neural structures, with direct applications in clinical neuroscience and diagnostic tool development. The lab actively participates in NIH-funded initiatives including grant writing workshops and collaborative short talks.
MASI drives innovation in medical image interpretation, maintaining strong ties with VISE and Bennett Landman's research group. Current activities focus on NIH grant development cycles and translating segmentation algorithms into clinical practice through Vanderbilt's medical infrastructure.
