Yuan Yang

Yuan Yang is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Geochemistry at Colorado School of Mines (CSM). His research focuses on developing and applying Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy techniques to study molecular structures and dynamics. Yang is a key contributor to a National Science Foundation Major Research Instrumentation Grant, enabling CSM to acquire advanced NMR instruments (JEOL 500MHz liquid-state and Bruker 400MHz solid-state NMR). His collaborative work spans diffusion NMR, quantum dots, nanoparticle characterization, and solid-state NMR probe design.

Education includes a BS from Nankai University (China), PhD from Heidelberg University (Germany), and postdoctoral studies at UC San Diego. Research interests emphasize NMR applications in materials science, catalysis, and energy systems. Notable contributions include studies on anion exchange membranes, fuel cell materials, and MRI contrast agents.
