Gisha Elizabeth Luckachan

Dr. Gisha Elizabeth Luckachan serves as a Lecturer in the Chemistry Department at Khalifa University, a position she assumed in Spring 2020. A spectroscopic specialist, she possesses extensive hands-on expertise in solid and liquid state NMR, Raman, UV-Visible NIR, and FTIR techniques, and currently manages the department's NMR laboratory operating a 500MHz spectrometer with BBO and MAS probes.

Her educational background includes:

• PhD in Polymer Chemistry from Cochin University of Science & Technology, India
• MSc in Pure Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University, India
• BSc in General Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University, India

Dr. Luckachan's research centers on polymer nanocomposites for corrosion protection and material science applications, with emphasis on nanostructured polymeric coatings and microstructural analysis of macromolecules/inorganic materials using advanced NMR spectroscopy. Her work bridges polymer chemistry, materials engineering, and analytical spectroscopy to develop practical solutions for industrial material degradation challenges.

Her scientific recognition includes:

• CSIR-UGC PhD Fellowship from Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (New Delhi, India)

She has supervised undergraduate senior design projects and mentored graduate/internship student research, building on her decade-long postdoctoral experience at The Petroleum Institute (now part of Khalifa University). Her teaching portfolio spans CHEM701, CHEM655, CHEM343, and CHEM115 courses.

As NMR laboratory director, she maintains critical analytical infrastructure supporting departmental research through state-of-the-art solid/liquid sample characterization capabilities.
