Youngjoo Cha

Youngjoo Cha is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Indiana University-Bloomington, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on gender inequality, work-family dynamics, labor markets, and organizational structures.

Her scholarship examines how long working hours exacerbate gender disparities, the impact of marriage and parenthood on wage gaps, and the role of stereotypes and legal actions in mitigating workplace inequality. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the American Sociological Review and American Journal of Sociology, as well as in major media outlets like the New York Times and The Economist.
