Younes Alila is a Professor in the Department of Forest Resources Management at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Forestry. His research focuses on watershed management, combining experimental, theoretical, stochastic, and deterministic hydrology across diverse temporal and spatial scales. He addresses nonlinear hydrologic processes influenced by stream networks, precipitation dynamics, soil characteristics, land use, and land cover.
Education:
- B.A.Sc. (1985), M.A.Sc. (1987), Ph.D. (1994) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Ottawa
His work provides scientifically grounded solutions for sustainable forest and water resource management in British Columbia, emphasizing policy development and operational problem-solving.
