Yoshimichi Sato is Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Kyoto University of Advanced Science and Professor of Sociology at Tohoku University. He holds a distinguished career in sociological research with a focus on Game Theory applications, social stratification, and institutional analysis. His academic journey includes fellowships at the University of Chicago and Cornell University, where he developed expertise in computational sociology and rational choice theory.
Education: Completed graduate studies at the University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Sociology. Research highlights include studies on social exclusion mechanisms, labor market inequality between regular and non-regular workers, and the role of institutions in shaping social outcomes. He directed the Centre for the Study of Social Stratification and Inequality (CSSI) at Tohoku University, fostering interdisciplinary research.
His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical studies, addressing global forces and local institutions. Awards include the Science Council of Japan membership (2017) and PROSE Awards (2016). Current projects involve modeling social exclusion chains using agent-based simulations to propose institutional solutions.
