Yoon Soo Lee

Yoon Soo Lee is a Professor of Art and Design at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth since 2001. A practicing graphic designer, exhibiting artist, and published scholar, she explores intersections between education, cross-disciplinary dialogue, and art/design rooted in self-knowledge. Born in Seoul, Korea, she has lived in the U.S. since the early 1990s.

• Education: BFA and MFA from Seoul National University, second MFA in Graphic Design from Western Michigan University.

Her research focuses on:

• Mindful educator practices
• Cross-disciplinary collaborations with engineers, psychologists, and scientists
• Designing art-based interventions for classroom innovation and creativity
• Creating visual stimuli tests for individuals with severe brain trauma

Her work has been supported by grants from the National Institute of Health (NIH) and presented at conferences like the Cognitive Science Society. Publications include contributions to Design Principles and Practices: An International Journal.
