Dr. Yoon Jin Shin is an Assistant Professor at the Seoul National University School of Law since September 2017. Formerly, he served as a Senior Researcher at the Center for Global Constitutionalism and Managing Editor of Global Constitutionalism (Cambridge Journal). His academic journey includes a Hauser Post-Doctoral Global Fellowship at NYU School of Law (2015–2016) and advanced degrees from Yale Law School (J.S.D. 2015, Dissertation: Transnational Human Rights Lawmaking of Human Trafficking; LL.M. 2011). He also held judicial roles in South Korea, including as a Judge at the Daegu District Court (2007–2010).
His research focuses on transnational human rights law, constitutionalism, and the intersection of law with migration and labor issues. Notable work includes exploring contextualized cosmopolitanism in South Korea’s human rights practices and analyzing legal frameworks addressing human trafficking.
Dr. Shin has received prestigious awards, including the Ambrose Gherini Prize (2015) for excellence in international law and the KFAS Scholarship (2010–2015) for overseas graduate studies. His publications span academic journals and policy-oriented works, addressing topics like South Korea’s constitutional transitions and legal responses to labor migration challenges.
Professional qualifications include membership in the New York State Bar (2014) and the Korean Bar Association (2010).
