Yonatan Berman is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Economics at the Department of Political Economy, King's College London. He is affiliated with the Quantitative Political Economy Group at King's and holds visiting roles at the International Inequalities Institute (LSE), the Stone Centre at UCL, and the World Inequality Database Project (WID.world). His research focuses on the intersection of public policy, labor economics, and political economy, with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods to study income/wealth distributions and social mobility. Berman's work examines long-term trends in economic inequality, the impacts of austerity policies, and the microfoundations of economic decision-making.
His research interests include the interplay between inequality and political dynamics, the distributional effects of tax reforms, and the application of stochastic models to understand wealth dynamics. He has contributed to debates on intergenerational mobility, the ergodic hypothesis in economics, and the socio-economic impacts of crises like the 2020 pandemic.
Berman’s affiliations span multiple institutions, including the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality (CUNY) and IZA, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to economic inequality. His publications often bridge theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis, addressing questions of economic welfare, policy design, and long-term societal trends.
