Yolanda Cerdá is the Executive Director of the Language Centre at the University of Leeds, part of the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies. She leads the strategic direction of the Language Centre, focusing on inclusive student education and internationalisation. Previously, she served as Deputy Director (Modern Languages) and Senior Teaching Fellow (Associate Professor) at the Sussex Centre for Language Studies (University of Sussex), where she contributed to Modern Language degrees, intercultural communication training, and EAP programs. Her expertise spans EAP, intercultural communication, teacher education, and critical discourse analysis.
Qualifications include a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Sussex, an MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT from King's College, an MA in Translation from the Universidad Complutense (Madrid), and a BA in English and Spanish from the University of Leeds. She holds certifications such as CELTA, DELTA, and PGCertHEA.
Her research interests include feminist linguistics, sociolinguistics, and Spanish cultural studies. She actively contributes to initiatives like Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence (LITE) and the Centre for Excellence in Language Teaching (CELT). Professional memberships include BALEAP, Association of University Language Centres (AULC), and University Council of Modern Languages (UCML).
