Dr Yingli Deng is an Associate Professor in Organisational Behaviour at Durham University Business School, where she also serves as Co-director of the Centre for Leadership and Followership and Deputy Chair of Board of Examiners (UG). She holds an M.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2016) and a Ph.D. in Management from Oklahoma State University (2021), with a visiting research period at Northwestern University (2019–2021).
Her research focuses on emotions, unethical behaviors, team dynamics, and leadership. Key areas include examining how conspiratorial beliefs influence vaccine acceptance, analyzing the impact of competitive rewards on employee behavior through bottom-line mentality, and exploring parental identity threats on work productivity. Her work has been published in top journals like Journal of Applied Psychology and highlighted by media such as the BBC.
Dr Deng’s publications span topics from cultural reciprocity patterns to the effects of managerial frames on employee ethics. She supervises three PhD students and contributes to academic leadership roles within her institution.
