Yingkui Li is a Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Tennessee. His research spans Physical Geography and GIS/spatial Analysis, focusing on paleo-climate reconstruction, Earth surface processes, and advanced geospatial technologies.
Dr. Li earned his Ph.D. from Peking University. He specializes in:
- Paleoclimatology & Environmental Reconstruction: Using cosmogenic nuclides (CN) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) to study glacial features in Costa Rica, the Tibetan Plateau, and Tian Shan.
- Climate-Human Interactions: Investigating lake level fluctuations linked to climate change and assessing urbanization impacts on water quality via GIS techniques.
- LiDAR/UAS Applications: Quantifying streambank erosion, glacier retreat, and generating 3D terrain models for landscape mapping.
- GIS & Spatial Analysis: Addressing environmental challenges like ice-sheet model validation and conservation prioritization.
His research is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and institutions like the Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Tennessee, and University of Missouri.
Dr. Li teaches foundational courses in physical geography and GIS, advanced topics in geomorphology, and seminars on environmental modeling. Contact: Phone 865-974-0595, Office 306 Burchfiel Geography Bldg., Knoxville, TN 37996-0925.
