Dr. Yinghong Cheng is a Professor at Delaware State University's Department of History, specializing in modern and contemporary Chinese history within a global context. His teaching focuses on world history connections, Asian history (particularly visual media representations), and American history. He holds a Ph.D. in World History from Northeastern University.
Research emphasizes Chinese history's global intersections, including a current project on African American soldiers' role in building the Burma Road during WWII. He has authored two English-language books and four Chinese works, with one translated into Japanese (2021). His work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, BBC, and South China Morning Post.
Dr. Cheng received the National Humanities Center Residential Fellowship (2021-2022). He advises on China-related issues for international media and actively engages in public scholarship.
