Ying-Fen Lin is a Senior Lecturer at Queen's University Belfast's School of Mathematics and Physics, affiliated with the Mathematical Sciences Research Centre. Her research focuses on operator algebras, non-commutative harmonic analysis, and operator theory, particularly preserver problems on operator algebras. She has published extensively since 2003, with recent work emphasizing C*-algebras, groupoids, and Fourier analysis.
Her research interests include the structural properties of operator algebras, with applications to groupoid C*-algebras and preserver mappings in Fourier algebras. Recent studies have explored topics such as Cartan subalgebras, twisted groupoid structures, and spectral properties of operators.
- Prizes: Heilbronn Institute grants (2024, 2025), ICMS Research grants (2020, 2023), QUB Agility Fund (2023)
Lin has presented at numerous conferences and workshops, including an invited talk on 'Semi-Cartan subalgebras' at the INI satellite programme (June-July 2025). She actively participates in editorial and peer-review activities, including for the Journal of Mathematical Analysis and its Applications.
