Yin Lam Lee-Johnson is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Diversity Advisory Committee at Webster University's School of Education, Graduate Department of Education. She also serves as Co-Director of a $2.7 million National Professional Development Grant from the U.S. Department of Education, aimed at preparing 120 ESL teachers over five years.
Her educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Foreign, Second, and Multilingual Language Education, The Ohio State University, 2012
Dr. Lee-Johnson's research spans critical theories and language education, with a focus on Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality, and Bakhtinian Theories. Her work examines multimodal discourse in contexts of immigrant and refugee language acquisition, as well as teacher education for K-12 settings. She is particularly interested in the experiences of non-native English speaking teachers and the out-of-class literacy practices of English language learners.

Dr. Lee-Johnson has secured substantial research funding, including a $2.7 million National Professional Development Grant from the U.S. Department of Education (2017-18) for which she serves as Co-Director. Additionally, she has received the Kornblum Research Grant and Faculty Research Grant to support her work in making a change in people's lives through education.
