معرفی
Yin Dong is a Lecturer and MRC Career Development Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences (University of Oxford). He leads the Neurosciences Group at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM) and manages functional diagnostics for the National Referral Service for Congenital Myasthenic Syndromes (CMS).
Yin Dong holds a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Warwick and a PhD from the University of Birmingham under Prof Karen Morrison. His postdoctoral work was conducted at the Structural Genomics Consortium with Prof Liz Carpenter before establishing his independent research program under Prof David Beeson.
His research focuses on N-glycosylation, a critical post-translational protein modification, and its role in neuromuscular junction dysfunction. His group employs multidisciplinary techniques including biochemistry, structural biology, glycomics, and molecular modeling to study how glycosylation defects cause diseases like Congenital Diseases of Glycosylation (CDG) and CMS. Recent work spans structural analysis of nicotinic receptors, computational pathogenicity assessment of variants, and molecular interaction studies between RIC3 and α7 receptors.
Scientific achievements include the MRC Career Development Fellowship and pioneering structural insights into glycosylation mechanisms via collaborations at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine. His group maintains ties to the National Referral Service for CMS and contributes to molecular medicine diagnostics.
