Yili Tang serves as an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Ontario's Faculty of Engineering. She leads the Mobility Technology Research Group (https://www.mobility-tech.ai/) as a Western Space Investigator.
Her research focuses on developing optimization methods, multi-agent robotic coordination systems, and AI-powered algorithms for next-generation transportation and robotic technologies. Her work spans both small-scale and large-scale applications within the advancing space technology domain, with particular emphasis on creating intelligent systems for modern mobility challenges.
Professor Tang's research has secured funding from major Canadian research organizations including NSERC, SSHRC, Mitacs, and OIC, along with support from industrial partners. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges civil engineering infrastructure with cutting-edge computer engineering solutions to address contemporary transportation needs through artificial intelligence frameworks.
