Yevgeny Yontov is an Assistant Professor of Piano at Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts since 2018. A leading Israeli pianist, he holds degrees from Tel-Aviv University (B.Mus, summa cum laude) and Yale University (M.M., D.M.A.). His career blends solo performances, chamber music with the icarus Quartet, and pedagogy.
Research interests focus on piano performance, chamber music interpretation, and classical repertoire. He has performed globally at venues like Carnegie Hall and collaborated with artists such as David Shifrin and members of the Orion Quartet. Awards include top prizes at the Arthur Rubinstein, Wideman, and Berliner Competitions.
Recordings include the Naxos release Schubert: Piano Variations (2017), Big Things with icarus Quartet (2022), and Turning into Song (2023). Teaching emphasizes technical mastery and expressive interpretation across classical and contemporary repertoires.
Active in outreach, he has given masterclasses in the US, Israel, and China. Current projects include expanding icarus Quartet's global presence and developing innovative pedagogical approaches.
