Benjamin Hoffman is an Assistant Professor of Violin at Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts. He is a renowned violinist with global performances at venues like Carnegie Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. He collaborates with leading musicians and orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra, and serves as concertmaster for groups like the New Haven Symphony and Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra.
Education: B.M. from Indiana University, M.M. and D.M.A. from Yale School of Music. Mentors include Latica Honda-Rosenberg and Ani Kavafian.
Research interests focus on classical and contemporary repertoire, chamber music, and music education. Co-founder of the Brightfeather Duo and Webern Quartet, dedicated to performing Second Viennese School works and premiering contemporary pieces. The Webern Quartet’s upcoming 2024-25 album release on the Etcetera label highlights their commitment to modern compositions.
Advocacy: Founded the Young Composers Initiative to provide music education for underserved children, and serves as faculty at the YOLA National Festival under Gustavo Dudamel. Active in residencies, including a historic Vienna residency performing Schoenberg quartets.
Labs/Teams: Brightfeather Duo (piano-violin partnership) and Webern Quartet, both advancing contemporary and classical string performance.
