Dr. Yeon-Mi Choi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Modern Languages at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), specializing in Korean language education since 2020. Previously, she held roles as Adjunct Assistant Professor (2018–2020) and Instructor (2014–2018) at UTA, alongside teaching positions at institutions in South Korea including Sungkyunkwan University and Duksung Women's University.
Education: She holds a BA in East Asian Studies (Sungkyunkwan University, 2014), MA in Education (UTA, 2006), and PhD in Library Science (Sungkyunkwan University, 2000). She is certified as a Korean language teacher and holds librarian credentials from South Korea.
Research & Teaching: Her work focuses on Korean language pedagogy, proficiency development, and cultural exchange. She has secured grants for promoting the TaLK Program (Teach and Learn in Korea) and contributed to the SAT Subject Test Korean textbook. Teaching interests include innovative language instruction and curriculum design.
Awards: Recipient of UTA’s Outstanding Teaching Award (2024), Excellence in Teaching (2019), and multiple recognitions for teaching excellence and cultural contributions from Korean educational organizations.
Service & Leadership: Serves on UTA’s Student Success Committee and organizes cultural events like Taste of Korea: Kimchi. Active in professional development for Korean educators through presentations at national conferences.
